Lightening is the most technical thing our students do, so it is also the most closely supervised. Before any lightener touches your hair, an instructor reviews the elasticity and porosity assessment, the developer volume chosen, and the placement map your student drew for your face shape and parting.

Hand-painted balayage is applied in open air with saturation controlled by hand, which is why it grows out soft instead of striped. Foiled highlights give a brighter, more uniform lift and suit guests who want defined contrast or full gray blending. Full head lightener takes every strand up to a single pale base as the first stage of a blonde or fashion-color transformation.

Lift is chemistry, and chemistry takes the time it takes. Expect three to four hours in the chair, with your student checking a test strand on a timer throughout. Dark or previously colored hair may need more than one session to reach your target — your student and instructor will tell you honestly at consultation rather than overpromising.
