Blowouts, Upstyles & Shampoo Sets in Royal Oak & Utica
Performed by supervised cosmetology students under licensed instructor supervision at our Royal Oak and Utica campuses.
Styling is where our students log their repetitions, and guests get the benefit. Whether you need a smooth blowout before a photo, a pinned upstyle for a wedding, or a classic roller set, the work is done slowly and sectioned properly because technique is what is being assessed.
Upstyles are built on a plan. Your student sketches the shape, preps with the right hold products, and an instructor reviews the foundation before pins go in — which is why student upstyles hold through a full reception. Bring photos and any hairpieces, combs or veils you plan to wear.
Shampoo sets and roller sets are a specialty of the teaching floor. Few commercial salons still offer them; our curriculum still teaches wet setting, pin curls and comb-outs, so guests who grew up with a weekly set can keep that appointment at a fraction of the cost.

What to expect
- Photo review and a discussion of how long the style needs to hold
- Product prep chosen for your hair's weight and texture, not a one-size mousse
- Sectioned round-brush or roller work with instructor spot-checks
- Upstyles built on a pinned foundation and reviewed before the finish
- A finishing spray and pin adjustment before you leave the chair

Before & after care
- Book event upstyles at least two weeks ahead and bring your accessories
- Come with day-old hair for upstyles — freshly washed hair holds pins poorly
- Tell your student if you will be outdoors or dancing so hold products can be adjusted
- Sleep on a silk pillowcase to stretch a blowout an extra day
- Use a dry shampoo at the root rather than rewashing to extend a set
